Fresh Cross-Border Clashes Erupt Between Pakistan and Taliban Forces

Fresh clashes have broken out between Pakistan and Taliban forces in Afghanistan, with both sides accusing each other of violating the ceasefire.

BBC reports that escalating tensions triggered panic in Spin Boldak, a border town in Afghanistan, forcing many residents to flee their homes overnight.

A medical source in Kandahar informed the BBC that four bodies were brought to a local hospital following the confrontation.

Both countries confirmed late-night gunfire that continued for nearly four hours, while each side blamed the other for initiating the violence.

A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that Taliban fighters opened fire without provocation. In response, a Taliban representative stated they were compelled to retaliate after Pakistani forces attacked first.

No official details have been released regarding Pakistan’s casualties. Sporadic border skirmishes have been occurring between the two nations for several months.

Earlier, the Taliban government had also accused Pakistan of entering Afghan territory and launching airstrikes.
