KIST Medical and Teaching Hospital has initiated a year-long “Tobacco Control Initiative” coinciding with World Oral Health Day 2025, aiming to combat tobacco use and promote oral health awareness.
The campaign, inaugurated with the slogan “Say No to Tobacco, Say Yes to Life!”, was launched in the presence of key figures including Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health; Hari Govinda Shrestha, Mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality; and Dr. Gyampo Dorji, Representative of the World Health Organization.
According to Suprina Prajapati, Brand Manager of KIST Hospital, the initiative will focus on tobacco control, enhancing oral and dental health, and raising public awareness.
The year-long campaign will feature a range of activities, including:
- Tobacco Cessation Clinics: Providing support to individuals seeking to quit tobacco.
- School-Level Awareness Programs: Educating students about the dangers of tobacco.
- Outreach Health Camps: Offering dental and health services in local communities.
- Awareness Rallies and Campaigns: Engaging the public through various outreach methods.
To mark the launch, KIST Hospital is observing “Oral Health Month” from Chaitra 7, 2081 (March 21, 2025) to Baisakh 7, 2082 (April 20, 2025), during which dental treatments will be offered at discounts of up to 50%. The hospital’s Oncology, Dental, and Psychiatry Departments will be integral to the campaign’s execution.
